The “Strong Women” project was launched in October 2019. For the first time the mothers of our “Clever-Kids” children were guests in the “Clever-Kids” house, in addition some women from the township. We started with 25 women!

After the welcome and a prayer I introduced myself, my way to Africa and the content of my work. The fact that I came to Masiphumelele to serve them astonished the women very much. It amused and delighted them that I asked for their help and suggestions for the topics for future meetings, due to a lack of knowledge of their culture, worries and needs.

Athough most of the women speak good English, Siphokazi, (an employee of Clever Kids) translated from English to Xhosa (the mother tongue).

After an extensive, interactive and very cheerful hygiene training, we had time for fellowship. We ate and drank together with the children in the yard, got to know each other, exchanged ideas in a very open and happy atmosphere. I collected “program wishes” for the next meetings, such as helping with the children’s education and introducing inexpensive medical home remedies.

At the end we had a prayer time together. The hunger for prayer is great. Many of the women had special prayer requests and were grateful that we brought their needs and wishes before God together.

The children were “entertained” in the yard during the event. A heartfelt “thank you” goes to the volunteers who entertained our little guests with various games, small competitions and various creative activities. It was great that everyone felt at home and wanted to be there again at the next meeting!
