The founder

Karin Drescher has been working for many years with children and families from the poorest part of the township of Masiphumelele. The idea of starting a homework centre for primary school children (grades 1-7) in the face of hardship was put into practice in April 2015 and took in the first seven first graders. In 2020, more than 40 children are already coming to the “Clever Kids House” every day after school.

The project

The “Clever Kids Homework Centre” is a non-profit, faith-based association, registered in South Africa. The NGO/NPO works in the township of Masiphumelele near Capetown in South Africa.

The children come to “Clever Kids” directly after public school and receive

Lunch

Homework assistance

Intensive tuition in English, Maths and IsiXhosa

Hygiene training courses

Play and craft time, stories from the Bible

Support with visits to the doctor, medication and glasses

School uniforms, shoes and school supplies”.

We offer our children a protective and learning space within the family, where they experience attention, appreciation and love. We attach great importance to a positive learning atmosphere. This encourages the children to overcome failures at school, to build up their self-confidence and to discover and develop their abilities.

Clever Kids Homework Centre is financed exclusively by donations. Therefore we are happy about every single donation.

You can help our children with your donation, a sponsorship and/or your time as a volunteer in South Africa.
