Hey, I’m Caro, 22 years old and I’m from Augsburg. I love to laugh, face new challenges and be authentic. My heart beats for seeing people in their needs and meeting them in them.

I have attended a Bible school for the last two years. I didn’t just want to learn in theory, I wanted to put what I had learned into practice. That’s why I chose South Africa, which interested me both because of the breathtaking landscape and the fascinating culture.

The tasks I take on here are very varied. During the week, I help out at Clever Kids, assist with homework, play with the children and also provide organizational support, for example with bookkeeping and list management.

On Saturday mornings, I help with the Girls Group. There we prepare programs with devotions and games to create a space for the girls where they can come together and develop.

At the beginning, it was very challenging for me to see the gap between rich and poor. To see people living in such poor conditions on the one hand, while on the other hand there are large villas with pools and other luxuries, made me think. In the meantime, however, I have found a good way of dealing with it. In my free time, we explore the area a lot as volunteers. It’s always very exciting and provides a good balance to my work.
