Why are there two organizations?

We have rejected the idea of joining an already existing non-profit organization in South Africa in order to ensure that the donations received in Germany are used as requested by the donors. For this reason we have founded a registered association (NGO/NPO) in South Africa.

How are “Learning and Life support Masiphumelele e.V.” financed in Germany and in South Africa?

Both associations are financed exclusively by donations.
We are working on getting donations in kind, primarily food, in South Africa.
Information about partner organizations can be found on the page “Partners and Friends”.

Do your donors receive a donation receipt?

Yes! Both associations are registered associations and are subject to the control of the responsible tax offices.
Both associations are also recognized as non-profit organizations in their respective countries.

Germany: Unless otherwise requested by the donor, we send a donation receipt for all donations made at the beginning of the following year.
South Africa: The donation receipt will be sent in the month following the month in which the donation is received.

Does a short assignment, for example in (school) holidays or on vacation make sense?

The time spent as a volunteer in South Africa is not only a great blessing for the local people, but above all for the volunteers themselves.
There are various reasons for doing a short-term assignment:

  • People want to support our projects through time and personal commitment, while at the same time getting to know a different culture.
  • Young people want to see for themselves whether they can imagine doing long-term service in South Africa.
  • Christians want to test for themselves whether God wants to send them on a long-term ministry.
  • Members of the home church and/or people who support us would like to get more insight into our work on site

We would be very happy to welcome you as a visitor or volunteer in South Africa!
